Communication

Is your website ready for international customers?

A buyer in Lyon, Warsaw or Madrid hears about your company for the first time. Before picking up the phone, they almost always do the same thing: visit your website. Within seconds they decide whether to read on, get in touch or go back to the search results.

For many SMEs, the website is therefore their most important salesperson abroad. The question is whether it is up to the job.

First impressions: do visitors understand what you offer?

International visitors do not know your company. Your home page should therefore answer clearly: what do you offer, for which industries and applications, and why is a conversation worthwhile? Generic slogans help little. Concrete services, application examples and plain language are what convince.

Speak your customer’s language

An English version is a good start, but in many markets it is not enough. Especially with technical products, and with decision-makers who work in their own language every day, a website in the customer’s language makes a real difference.

Quality is key. An unchecked machine translation can distort technical terms and quickly looks unprofessional. Good localisation adapts terminology, examples and tone to the target market.

Getting found: international SEO

A customer searching for your product does so in their own language and with their own terms. For your website to be found in other countries, each language version needs:

  • its own well-translated page titles and descriptions
  • the search terms actually used in the target market
  • a clear technical structure with language tagging
  • content that answers the questions customers in that market are asking

Build trust

International customers take a greater risk when working with a new supplier. Trust comes from verifiable information: certifications, industry experience, reference information, a team with real faces and complete company details.

Clear routes to contact

The best content is of little use if the next step is unclear. A clearly visible contact form, a named contact person, the option to book a meeting and a note on which languages you work in all lower the barrier to an enquiry.

Your website sells too

An internationally focused website is not an end in itself. It supports every sales activity, from a conversation at a trade fair to an outreach email, and turns interest into enquiries.

Global Mundi supports your international communication: multilingual websites, localisation, sales materials and translations that are understood in the target market. Let’s take a look at your website together.
